 EXPERIENCE LEVEL

The upcoming workshops will be for beginners and intermediates on Saturday and intermediates on Sunday.
Beginners are those who have never taken a pastel workshop from me before.
All levels are welcome for Saturday.
Sunday's workshop is for intermediates and for those who took the Saturday Workshop.

COURSE AND WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Both workshops will open at 9:00 am - settle in, get a pastry, have some coffee or tea and say hi to your neighbor.
Teaching begins at 9:30-4:00.

Saturday's Beginner/Intermediate workshop will start with a quick discussion of materials and a demonstration. The main focus for the day will be color theory including some color exercises in the morning.  In the afternoon I will have a step by step for the beginners to follow. If you are at the intermediate level bring your own reference photos. Bring many photos so we can talk about what would be the best choice.

Sunday's Intermediate workshop will focus on expressive mark-making along with expressive color choices.  Bring your own reference photos and we will talk about what makes a good reference photo and how to change things around for a better composition.

 MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES

Students need a set of at least 48 Nupastels. The teacher will be using a set of 96 NuPastels and also Sennelier Plein Air Landscape 80 1/2 sticks. Sennelier pastels are a great addition to your set but not necessary for the workshop.

Also recommended: a notebook, drawing board, masking tape, paper towels and baby wipes (to clean your hands). If you dodn't have a drawing board to attach the pastel paper a drawing board can be created by cutting foam core to a 16”x20" size. Foam core can be purchased at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

I get my supplies from DickBlick.com and Jerrysartarama.com

I will supply UArt sanded pastel paper, rubbing alcohol and brushes for the underpainting.
